چکیده

Russell’s viper and hump-nosed are deadly venomous Viperidae snakes in Sri Lanka. Both these vipers widely distributed all climatic zones of the island. causes systemic envenoming such as coagulopathy, neuroparalysis acute kidney injury (AKI) whilst frequently local rarely AKI coagulopathy. These two may cause atypical syndromes like thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). We report cases HUS, a type TMA rare complication snakebites including triad AKI, thrombocytopenia microangiopathic hemolysis.

[Hemolytic uremic syndrome and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura].

Hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) are thrombotic microangiopathies (TMA). Both familial and sporadic forms exist: anaemia, thrombopaenia, renal failure and neurologic disorders are common clinical features. The differential diagnosis depends on plasma levels of von Willebrand factor-cleaving protease: there is a deficiency of this protease in patients...

Thrombotic Microangiopathy with Complement Factor H Gene Mutations Unassociated with Atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome

To the Editor, Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) is a rare multigenic disorder characterized by thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA). Among the genes that are associated with aHUS, mutations in the complement factor H (CFH) gene are the most common genetic cause of the disease. Several specific gene mutations have been identified in patients with aHUS [1,2,3]. A 5-year-old boy was admitted ...

Clinical evaluation of thrombotic microangiopathy: identification of patients with suspected atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome

Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) is a rare genetic disorder caused by defective complement regulation resulting in thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA). Patients can present as children or adults. The syndrome consists of hemolytic anemia with schistocytosis, thrombocytopenia, significant renal damage, and/or other organ system dysfunction(s). Patients with aHUS may succumb to the complica...

Postpartum thrombotic microangiopathy revealed as atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome successfully treated with eculizumab: a case report

INTRODUCTION Differential diagnosis of thrombotic microangiopathies can be difficult. Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome is a rare, life-threatening disease caused by uncontrolled chronic activation of alternative complement pathway, resulting in microvascular thrombosis, organ ischemia and damage. Prognosis is poor: up to 65 percent of patients require dialysis or have kidney damage of varying...

Thrombotic microangiopathies: thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura / hemolytic uremic syndrome.

Thrombotic microangiopathies (TMAs) are pathological conditions characterized by generalized microvascular occlusion by platelet thrombi, thrombocytopenia, and microangiopathic hemolytic anemia. Two typical phenotypes of TMAs are hemolytic- uremic syndrome (HUS) and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP). Other disorders occasionally present with similar manifestations. Depending on whether ...
